Rain barrels are a great way to collect and use rainwater from downspouts in order to reduce the amount of stormwater runoff that connects into the Cannon River. Collected water can be used to water your lawn and garden in the summer months.

A rain garden is simply
a bowl shaped garden
that is built where it will
capture rain and snowmelt before it reaches a storm sewer and eventually the Cannon River. Not only that, they are a beautiful way to keep our favorite lakes and rivers clean. They ensure a steady supply of
groundwater and attract
birds and butterflies.

As of 2015, Clean River Partners is no longer hosting workshops to teach residents in the Cannon River about rain gardens and barrels. However, most yard and garden retailers now carry the supplies needed to make them for your home. For more information on rain barrels, check out these resources, and more informations on rain gardens. Additionally, please check out our other upcoming events here.
