Join Us for a Riparian Buffer Planting Event!

We are excited to announce a special event in partnership with the Organic Compound, where we’ll be coming together to make a lasting impact on our land and waterways. This event focuses on planting four varieties of willow into a riparian buffer along Prairie Creek, a vital waterway on our property that feeds into the Minnesota River, the Mississippi River, and, ultimately, the Gulf of Mexico. Clean water is essential—not just for this farm but also for communities and ecosystems downstream. By planting a diverse array of trees and shrubs along the creek, we’ll help protect water quality, prevent erosion, and support wildlife habitat. This is more than just planting; it’s a commitment to our rivers' health and the environment's well-being.

Accessibility Information

The Organic Compound will provide lunch, and there are bathrooms and plenty of parking on site. Please bring a water bottle and wear comfortable working clothes and shoes. Be prepared to hike from the parking lot down to our lower orchard, where the planting will occur.

Whether you're planting trees, learning about the importance of riparian buffers, or enjoying the beautiful surroundings, your participation will contribute to a cleaner, healthier future for our water systems.

All ages are welcome, and no experience is necessary. Let’s come together to protect our water and nurture our land!

Learn about Organic Compound

The Organic Compound grew from a small communal garden that Wil Crombie began on his family’s land. The local community flocked to it and transformed the land into a thriving farm and homestead centered around regenerative living. As the community grew, Carly Crombie became another founding member – managing the annual gardens, organizing events, and weaving the web of community. Through beekeeping, sawmilling, hide tanning, deep mulch gardening, water and land management, composting, and food preservation, they catalyzed their love for this regenerative lifestyle into a much larger endeavor.
