(Northfield, MN) Clean River Partners has been awarded a grant of $6,800 from Northfield Shares for their proposal to Improve Environmental, Personal, and Community Health Through Volunteering. The grant will be fulfilled with funds from the Nutting Beautification Fund, the Environmental Sustainability Fund, and the Marston Headley & Dorothy Stone Headley Fund. Clean River Partners aims to inspire people and organizations to value, protect, and improve the land and water of the Cannon River watershed.

Jennifer Tonko, Executive Director of CRP, expressed her gratitude: “Clean River Partners is pleased to receive this grant award and put it towards a series of three hands-on volunteer opportunities to create meaningful impact for the Northfield community.” The program will work with community organizational partners to co-create volunteer opportunities that align with their goals and are meaningful to community members. Interested partners can contact CRP Community Engagement Coordinator Hannah Mahr at hannah@cleanriverpartners.org. The public activities will be volunteer opportunities that engage people with different motivations and backgrounds.

Clean River Partners believes that connecting the community to the watershed is crucial. Through these activities, the organization aims to raise awareness of pressing environmental issues, promote environmental and community health, and encourage community members to be more engaged and connected.
